The way to make your move as easy and organized as possible is to make a moving checklist and keep it on your computer. Do this in spreadsheet so that you can update the list and also email it to yourself or others if you need to. You can also keep all kinds of other information on the list, like phone numbers and addresses. Here are a few examples of items that need to be written on your moving checklist.
Moving Supplies
You will first need to make a moving checklist of boxes and packing materials that you will need to pack your belongings. This includes trash bags and other supplies you may need to get your house ready so that someone else can move in when you leave and you can get your security deposit back. A removalist company is a good place to start to get quality boxes that won’t fall apart when you move the boxes to your new place. You may also need furniture padding for larger items.
Inventory Your Belongings
You should take pictures of all of your belongings, especially if you are hiring a removalist company. You will need them for the insurance company if anything goes missing or gets broken during the move. You can also label your boxes as to what is in each box so that you can find things after the move without unpacking.
Transfer the Utilities
You will either have to transfer the utilities or have them shut off and turned on at your new home. Keep a list of the phone numbers and account numbers on your moving checklist so that they are handy when you need them.
Make Arrangements for Your Pets
Your pets will need to be taken care of during the move and might also need to go to a new vet. Make sure to keep everything they need on a checklist as well.
